In Fig. 3.1 everyone&#8217;s fate is in the hands of everyone else. If we move the levels so they are directed as shown in Fig. 3.2, then each individual gains more control over his own fate. The form of interdependence depicted here is weaker than was true in Fig. 3.1 in the sense that each individual has partial control over his own fate and is thereby less dependent on the other members; it is also weaker in the sense that each is dependent on and also can affect the fate of only one other individual. In Fig. 3.2 the only crucial person in person&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&#8216;s universe is person&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>. If&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>&nbsp;remains passive and doesn&#8217;t turn his knob at all, then all&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&nbsp;has to do is raise his corner, and eventually the bubble will go back to the center. The drama in this setup lies in the fact that even though in A&#8217;s view&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>&nbsp;is crucial and&nbsp;<em>B<\/em>&nbsp;is irrelevant, if we shift around to&nbsp;<em>C&#8217;<\/em>s position,&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>&nbsp;could care less what happens to&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>: the crucial person is&nbsp;<em>B<\/em>. However, even though B is crucial to&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>, if we shift to&nbsp;<em>B<\/em>&#8216;s position we find that&nbsp;<em>B<\/em>&nbsp;could care less what happens to&nbsp;<em>C&nbsp;<\/em>because&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&nbsp;is vital.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u53c2\u8003\u8bd1\u6587\uff1a\u8fd9\u4e2a\u7b80\u5355\u5b9e\u9a8c\u6700\u8ff7\u4eba\uff08\u5f15\u4eba\u5165\u80dc\uff09\u7684\u5730\u65b9\u5728\u4e8e\uff1a\u53ea\u9700\u901a\u8fc7\u6539\u53d8\u6c34\u5e73\u4eea\u7684\u6446\u653e\u65b9\u5411\uff0c\u5c31\u80fd\u521b\u9020\u51fa<strong>\u6781\u5176\u591a\u6837\u5316\u7684\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u60c5\u5883<\/strong>\u3002\u5728\u56fe3.1\u4e2d\uff0c\u6bcf\u4e2a\u4eba\u7684\u547d\u8fd0\u90fd\u638c\u63e1\u5728\u5176\u4ed6\u6240\u6709\u4eba\u624b\u4e2d\u3002\u800c\u5982\u679c\u6211\u4eec\u79fb\u52a8\u6c34\u5e73\u4eea\uff0c\u4f7f\u5176\u6307\u5411\u5982\u56fe3.2\u6240\u793a\u7684\u65b9\u5411\uff0c\u90a3\u4e48\u6bcf\u4e2a\u4eba\u5bf9\u81ea\u8eab\u547d\u8fd0\u7684\u63a7\u5236\u529b\u90fd\u4f1a\u663e\u8457\u589e\u5f3a\u3002\u5728\u6b64\u5904\uff08\u56fe3.2\uff09\u6240\u63cf\u7ed8\u7684\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u5f62\u5f0f\uff0c\u8981\u6bd4\u56fe3.1\u4e2d\u7684\u60c5\u51b5<strong>\u66f4\u4e3a\u5fae\u5f31<\/strong>\u3002\u5176\u5fae\u5f31\u4e4b\u5904\u9996\u5148\u5728\u4e8e\uff1a\u6bcf\u4e2a\u4eba\u5bf9\u81ea\u5df1\u7684\u547d\u8fd0\u90fd\u62e5\u6709\u4e86\u90e8\u5206\u63a7\u5236\u6743\uff0c\u4ece\u800c\u964d\u4f4e\u4e86\u5bf9\u5176\u4ed6\u6210\u5458\u7684\u4f9d\u8d56\u7a0b\u5ea6\uff1b\u5176\u6b21\u5728\u4e8e\uff1a\u6bcf\u4e2a\u4eba\u4ec5\u4f9d\u8d56\u4e8e\u4e00\u4e2a\u7279\u5b9a\u4e2a\u4f53\uff0c\u4e14\u53cd\u8fc7\u6765\u4e5f\u53ea\u80fd\u5f71\u54cd\u8fd9\u4e00\u4e2a\u4eba\u7684\u547d\u8fd0\u3002\u5728\u56fe3.2\u4e2d\uff0c\u884c\u52a8\u8005A\u7684\u4e16\u754c\u91cc\u552f\u4e00\u81f3\u5173\u91cd\u8981\u7684\u4eba\u5c31\u662f\u884c\u52a8\u8005C\u3002\u5982\u679cC\u4fdd\u6301\u88ab\u52a8\u3001\u5b8c\u5168\u4e0d\u62e7\u52a8\u4ed6\u7684\u65cb\u94ae\uff0c\u90a3\u4e48A\u6240\u9700\u8981\u505a\u7684\u5168\u90e8\u4e8b\u60c5\u5c31\u662f\u62ac\u9ad8\u4ed6\u90a3\u4e00\u89d2\uff0c\u6c14\u6ce1\u6700\u7ec8\u5c31\u4f1a\u56de\u5230\u6b63\u4e2d\u592e\u3002\u8fd9\u79cd\u6a21\u5f0f\u7684\u620f\u5267\u6027\uff08The 3.1 illustrated a situation of mutual interdependence, and Fig. 3.2 illustrates sequential interdependence. Sequential interdependence is the simplest type of interdependent situation that involves the use of some kind of intermediary in social interaction, and mediated interaction is the essence of organization (Guetzkow 1961). In Fig. 3.2, person&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&nbsp;is interested in the outcomes that another person, person&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>, can offer. But&nbsp;<em>A&nbsp;<\/em>can offer&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>&nbsp;nothing.Instead,&nbsp;<em>A<\/em>&nbsp;has to rely on the actions of somebody else,&nbsp;<em>B<\/em>, who can offer something of value to&nbsp;<em>C<\/em>. Situations similar to this in everyday life include the plant manager who relies on supervisors to control the work quality of workers, the child who works through the softer parent to get desired outcomes from the other parent, and the nation that asks another nation to sound out a third regarding some possible agreement.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u53c2\u8003\u8bd1\u6587\uff1a\u56fe3.1\u9610\u660e\u4e86\u4e00\u79cd\u201c\u5171\u540c\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u201d\u7684\u60c5\u5883\uff0c\u800c\u56fe3.2\u5219\u5c55\u793a\u4e86\u201c\u5e8f\u5217\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u201d<strong>\u3002\u5e8f\u5217\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u662f\u6240\u6709\u6d89\u53ca\u5728\u793e\u4f1a\u4e92\u52a8\u4e2d\u4f7f\u7528\u67d0\u79cd<\/strong>\u4e2d\u4ecb\/\u5a92\u4ecb<strong>\u7684\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u60c5\u5883\u4e2d\u6700\u7b80\u5355\u7684\u4e00\u79cd\u7c7b\u578b\uff1b\u800c\u8fd9\u79cd<\/strong>\u201c\u4e2d\u4ecb\u5316\u4e92\u52a8\u201d\uff0c\u6070\u6070\u662f\u7ec4\u7ec7\u7684\u672c\u8d28\u6240\u5728\u3002\u5728\u56fe3.2\u4e2d\uff0c\u884c\u52a8\u8005A\u5bf9\u53e6\u4e00\u4f4d\u884c\u52a8\u8005C\u6240\u80fd\u63d0\u4f9b\u7684\u7ed3\u679c\uff08\u7ee9\u6548\/\u5229\u76ca\uff09\u975e\u5e38\u611f\u5174\u8da3\u3002\u4f46\u662f\uff0cA\u65e0\u6cd5\u76f4\u63a5\u5411C\u63d0\u4f9b\u4efb\u4f55\u56de\u62a5\u3002\u76f8\u53cd\uff0cA\u4e0d\u5f97\u4e0d\u4f9d\u8d56\u7b2c\u4e09\u8005\u2014\u2014\u884c\u52a8\u8005B\u7684\u884c\u52a8\uff0c\u56e0\u4e3aB\u80fd\u591f\u5411C\u63d0\u4f9b\u67d0\u4e9b\u5bf9\u5176\u6709\u4ef7\u503c\u7684\u4e1c\u897f\u3002\u65e5\u5e38\u751f\u6d3b\u4e2d\u4e0e\u6b64\u7c7b\u4f3c\u7684\u60c5\u5883\u5305\u62ec\uff1a\u5382\u957f\u4f9d\u8d56\u8f66\u95f4\u4e3b\u7ba1\u53bb\u63a7\u5236\u5de5\u4eba\u7684\u5de5\u4f5c\u8d28\u91cf\uff1b\u5b69\u5b50\u901a\u8fc7\u6027\u683c\u66f4\u8f6f\u548c\u7684\u7236\u4eb2\uff08\u6216\u6bcd\u4eb2\uff09\u4f5c\u4e3a\u6865\u6881\uff0c\u53bb\u4ece\u53e6\u4e00\u4f4d\u5bb6\u957f\u90a3\u91cc\u83b7\u53d6\u81ea\u5df1\u60f3\u8981\u7684\u7ed3\u679c\uff1b\u4ee5\u53ca\u4e00\u4e2a\u56fd\u5bb6\u8bf7\u6c42\u53e6\u4e00\u4e2a\u5efa\u4ea4\u56fd\u53bb\u8bd5\u63a2\u7b2c\u4e09\u56fd\u5173\u4e8e\u67d0\u9879\u6f5c\u5728\u534f\u8bae\u7684\u6001\u5ea6\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udccc \u5b66\u4e60\u7b14\u8bb0<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>1. \u7ef4\u514b\u5728\u8fd9\u4e00\u6bb5\u5bf9\u56fe3.1\u53ca\u56fe3.2\u7684\u5185\u5bb9\u8fdb\u884c\u4e86\u603b\u7ed3\uff0c\u5e76\u6307\u51fa\uff0c\u56fe3.2\u8fd9\u79cd\u5e8f\u5217\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u5173\u7cfb\u5176\u5b9e\u662f\u56fe3.1\u5171\u540c\u76f8\u4e92\u4f9d\u8d56\u7684\u7b80\u5316\u7248\uff0c\u56fe3.1\u30013.2\u90fd\u662f\u4e2d\u4ecb\u5316\u4e92\u52a8\uff0c\u800c\u8fd9\u79cd\u4e2d\u4ecb\u5316\u4e92\u52a8\u662f\u7ec4\u7ec7\u7684\u672c\u8d28\u3002<br>\u4e5f\u5c31\u662f\u8bf4\uff0c\u7ec4\u7ec7\u7684\u590d\u6742\u4e4b\u5904\u5728\u4e8e\uff0c\u7ec4\u7ec7\u4e0d\u662f\u4eba\u4e0e\u4eba\u7684\u76f4\u63a5\u78b0\u649e\uff0c\u7ec4\u7ec7\u662f\u4e2d\u4ecb\u5316\u4e92\u52a8\u7684\u4ee3\u6301\u7f51\u7edc\u3002\u4ed6\u501f\u7528\u8a79\u59c6\u65af\u00b7\u76d6\u8328\u79d1\u7684\u7ecf\u5178\u89c2\u70b9\uff0c\u6307\u51fa\u4e2d\u4ecb\u5316\u4e92\u52a8\u662f\u73b0\u4ee3\u4f01\u4e1a\u3001\u653f\u4f53\u4e43\u81f3\u5bb6\u5ead\u7684\u7b49\u7ec4\u7ec7\u7684\u672c\u8d28\u3002<br>2. His point of departure was the catastrophe that occurred in East Bengal in November 1970 when 500,000 people were killed by a cyclone. Hardin asks the question, &#8220;What killed these unfortunate people?&#8221; The obvious answer is the cyclone. Hardin argues that it&#8217;s just as plausible to argue that overpopulation killed these 500,000 people. The area where they lived is barely above sea level, making anyone who lives there vulnerable to being killed by even quite ordinary storms. Hardin feels that if it were not for the fact that Pakistan is so overcrowded, &#8220;no sane man would bring his family to such a place. Ecologically speaking, a delta belongs to the river and the sea; man intrudes there at his feels that we tend to exaggerate the effect of something like a cyclone and to underplay the effect of something like overpopulation simply because if we identified overpopulation as a strong determinant, then we would have to deal with the unpleasant question, &#8220;How can we control population without recourse to repugnant measures?&#8221; (Hardin and Baden 1977). By saying that the cyclone caused the deaths, then we can comfortably say that fate, not human responsibility, was at the root of the problem. As another example, Hardin mentions the fact that every year diseases like tuberculosis, leprosy, or animal parasites &#8220;cause&#8221; the deaths of millions of people. His argument is that malnutrition is intimately connected with
