Again, the reverse of this assumption is also included in this category.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p>\u53c2\u8003\u8bd1\u6587\uff1a\u6b64\u5904\u7684\u7814\u7a76\u5047\u8bbe\u662f\uff1a\u67d0\u79cd\u73b0\u8c61\u5728\u8868\u9762\u4e0a\u770b\u6765\u662f\u8fbe\u6210\u76ee\u6807\u7684\u4f4e\u6548\u624b\u6bb5\uff0c\u4f46\u5b9e\u9645\u4e0a\u5374\u80fd\u6709\u6548\u5730\u53d1\u6325\u4f5c\u7528\u3002\u540c\u6837\u5730\uff0c\u8fd9\u4e00\u5047\u8bbe\u7684\u53cd\u5411\u60c5\u51b5\uff08\u5373\u8868\u9762\u9ad8\u6548\u3001\u5b9e\u5219\u4f4e\u6548\uff09\u4e5f\u88ab\u5305\u542b\u5728\u8fd9\u4e00\u8303\u7574\u4e4b\u5185\u3002<\/p>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>\ud83d\udccc class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\"\/>\n\n\n\n<p>\u539f\u6587\uff1aThe assumption that long meetings accomplish nothing is a good illustration for this category. Evidence suggests that during long meetings where nothing much seems to get done on the manifest agenda, a great deal of information is in fact being exchanged, and members are learning more about each other and how to accommodate to each other&#8217;s idiosyncratic styles; this learning improves meeting productivity over the long run. Propositions of the form &#8220;what seems to function ineffectively in fact functions effectively&#8221; have conservative implications. People should not try to change an obviously defective social institution which in reality has useful consequences (Gans 1972). Looking for unexpected functions and dysfunctions is a useful pretext to become absorbed into a phenomenon and to think about it carefully. I mention this because many people are highly critical of functional analyses, not so much because they are a fallible form of analysis, but because of the political implications mentioned earlier. Once these political overtones &#8211; which are not as black and white as they are said to be\u2014 are stripped away, there remains a useful way to begin examining any
